This year, I’m taking on an incredible challenge, running an ultra marathon to raise funds for Children’s Fund, an organization that transformed the trajectory of my life and continues to uplift thousands of youth and families across our community each year.
WHY I RUN
My connection to Children’s Fund is deeply personal. As a young person who experienced foster care and homelessness, I faced obstacles that could have easily derailed my education and my future. Children’s Fund stepped in at pivotal moments, providing scholarships that allowed me to secure stable housing while I pursued my dream of attending and graduating from college. They also gave me the opportunity to share my story directly with their board of directors, ensuring that youth voices were heard, valued, and represented.
Today, I am proud to serve as a Board Member and as the Public Relations Chair for Children’s Fund. I’m committed to giving back to the same organization that once gave me hope, stability, and a path forward. Running this ultra marathon is my way of paying it forward so that another young person facing hardship can receive the same support I once did.
A PROGRAM CLOSE TO MY HEART
Among the many programs Children’s Fund offers, the Sports Fair holds a special place in my heart. This annual summer event brings youth together to connect, compete, and simply enjoy being kids. The day is filled with encouragement, community, and joy, reminding young people that their circumstances do not define their potential. I’ve had the honor of speaking at this event and have witnessed firsthand the confidence and inspiration it sparks.
