Celebrating the past and building for the future

Why do you support Children’s Fund?
I support Children’s Fund because my faith teaches me that caring for vulnerable children and families is not optional—it is a calling. Scripture consistently points us toward defending the fatherless, serving the poor, and standing in the gap for those who do not have a voice. For me, board service is a practical way to live that out. Children’s Fund stands out because it works at both the heart level and the systems level. It doesn’t simply provide temporary relief; it creates long-term pathways toward stability, education, and opportunity for children in San Bernardino County. That resonates deeply with me. I believe true compassion pairs generosity with accountability and measurable impact. Ultimately, I support Children’s Fund because I believe strong families build strong communities—and when we invest in children, we invest in the future. My faith compels me to act, not just believe, and this board role is one meaningful way I can do that.
Tell me about your favorite Children’s Fund program and why it is important to you.
One program that stands out to me is Children’s Fund’s child abuse prevention and family stabilization efforts. What resonates most with me is the proactive nature of this work. Rather than stepping in only after crisis occurs, the organization invests in strengthening families before situations escalate. From a faith perspective, I believe we are called not only to respond to suffering but to prevent it whenever possible. Prevention reflects wisdom, stewardship, and long-term care. Supporting parents with resources, education, and community connection helps preserve family units and protects children at their most vulnerable stages of life. To me, that kind of lasting impact—quiet, preventative, and transformative—is what meaningful service looks like. It reflects both practical wisdom and the heart of faith in action.
What makes Children’s Fund stand out in the community?
Children’s Fund stands out because it does more than respond to immediate needs—it addresses the deeper systems that impact vulnerable children and families across San Bernardino County. Many organizations provide temporary assistance, which is important, but Children’s Fund works upstream to create sustainable solutions in areas like child abuse prevention, education access, and family stability. What distinguishes the organization is its ability to bring together public agencies, private donors, corporate partners, and community leaders to work toward a shared mission. It operates with both compassion and accountability. As someone who values stewardship, I appreciate that the organization is intentional about measurable outcomes and responsible use of resources. From a faith perspective, I believe true service requires both heart and structure. Compassion without strategy can fall short; strategy without compassion can feel impersonal. Children’s Fund demonstrates both. It cares deeply for children, while also building programs that strengthen families and prevent future hardship.
